In Nicomachean ethics, Aristotle continues to explore the nature of happiness. He argues that happiness involves the activity of the soul according to virtue, for example, with moral virtues, such as courage, generosity and righteousness, and intellectual virtues, such as knowledge, wisdom and discernment. . Ethics also deals with the nature of practical reasoning, the value and objects of pleasure, the various forms of friendship and the relationship between individual virtue, society and the state. Aristotle’s work had a profound and lasting influence on all subsequent Western thought on ethical issues.
