Engaged in a mysterious relationship with her dead Army best friend, a female Afghanistan veteran comes face to face with her Vietnam vet grandfather at the family’s lake house. Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris previously starred together in Gone Baby Gone (2007). I saw this at SXSW 2024 and it was the best movie there (as also stated above). It’s based on a true story. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it also made me think more about veterans and the challenges they face when they return from war. I’m trying not to give too much away and spoil it for other people, but if you’re going to see this – please have a box of tissues around! The acting is incredible – with people like Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris you can’t go wrong. I’m not as familiar with some of the other actresses/actors, but I definitely know their names now! They’re phenomenal. A must-see film with a very important message for the audience.
