Media expert Muncie Daniels must fight for his innocence and his life after stumbling upon a murder in the Pocono Deep. Colman Domingo’s first major television role. There are many well-done elements to this show. But I just felt it was awkward. There were so many things about the script, direction, and acting that felt awkward. At times, it was embarrassing. Some of the dialogue felt so sketchy and crude that I could only shake my head. It made the historical relationships feel incomplete and devoid of depth. I think I should have felt warm feelings for many of the characters, but I didn’t. I understand the techniques for creating anxiety in the audience, but that’s another matter. If it was intentional, then the execution failed. If this is a new style of filmmaking, I hope it passes.
