How this feat was pulled off on such a small budget was beyond me, but the film was simply mesmerizing to watch. The horror was quite effective with jump scares and scary moments, cheap but not that disturbing. They were able to build up the tension so well and never let it go until the very end. The plot was simple enough to bring all the relevant characters together to make me care about them, although some might complain that 90% of the characters were just filler, and I might agree. One thing that may not be suitable for the general public was mental illness.

Smile managed it decently, but don’t expect an Oscar-worthy performance

And no, it wasn’t exactly the main theme, so try not to stop in the middle because the last act of the movie brings surprises. Try it. I’d say it was worth the time for horror fans like me. This wasn’t just some sequel to Annabelle or Insidious, but something more.
