26 looted royal treasures from the Kingdom of Dahomey have been on display in Paris and are now returning to Benin. Diop artistically expresses the demands of a new generation. World premiere at the 74th Berlinale Film Festival on February 18, 2024. The reality is, not everything is as good as people think. Maybe it’s just me, but this is not really the kind of film I’m that deeply interested in, so I won’t be able to be very objective here. The thing is, it’s just a run-of-the-mill, mediocre, and it didn’t bring anything new to the table that I was hoping for, judging by what others have said about Dahomey. Anyway, yeah, I don’t have much to say except that the way I see things doesn’t change. It’s good, but no, well, maybe next time… Check out the full lineup for the 62nd New York Film Festival this fall.
