A land grab threatens to destroy the fading dynasty
Tale
When Lawson’s vast cattle station lacks an heir, rival factions across Australia see an opportunity to take over. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in places so remote they are barely inhabited, let alone shown on screen.
The acting is fantastic, the relationship links are intriguing and quite complex
Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, with special permission from the traditional owners, and Tipperary Station, a real-life working cattle station that is so large it has its own airfield and school. I thought it was a beautifully filmed series, the plot is just overly melodramatic.
Makes me think it is made for an international audience
Viewers outside Australia may be baffled by our gun control laws while watching this. I lived in the Northern Territory for 8 years, there is certainly not that much shooting between humans, it is OTT.
It’s a very watchable series
The destruction of the country and constant manipulation are certainly true to life. Death and grief could be explored in more depth, though the legacy of psychological trauma does a good job of continuing throughout.
